Tree Weaves Could Come in Handy for Storm Preparedness
As roots anchor the trees below ground, so do the nets anchor the trees above ground. The handwoven tree nets boost the structural integrity of the trees. This provides above ground communication and support. This makes the trees less likely to fall over in a storm, because the are tethered together by ultra strong ropes. Each tree, rather than standing alone, is connected to many other trees, and to a secure network of industrial rope. The nets can hold upwards of 10,000 lbs, making it unlikely for a wind force to cause a topple. Flooding may also compromise the stability of the soil holding the roots in place below the ground. With the net in place above the ground you have a second layer or support.
In the case of dire flooding, as we’ve seen a lot in recent years, a high tree weave could provide a safe refuge for humans and animals alike to wait out the storm above water. Our clients who own the Tchefuncte Tree Weave in New Orleans recently told us that almost all the trees in their neighborhood were felled by the 2021 Hurricane Ida, but the trees in their yard that were connected to the tree web were standing tall, a beacon of survival in a hard hit neighborhood. They attributed the survival of those trees fully to our Tree Net installation, and that reaffirmed the suspicions we’ve always held about our nets, which are outlined in the paragraph above.
