Crow's Nests

One of the extra features the Tree Weaves build teams have the most fun adding to any of our installations is a crow’s nest. The size of any given crow’s nest we may install can differ depending on the layout of the trees we are using to create the installation and the overall scope of the entire project. We have installed crow’s nests that are perfect for just a single person to enjoy and others that could comfortably fit three to five adults.

The real joy of a crow’s nest is not in its size, but rather in the height and views it offers to anyone who has climbed up. What child has not dreamed of a chance to be high up in the crow’s nest of a pirate ship observing the open ocean? While we may not be ship builders, adding a crow’s nest to one of our tree nets or playground structures does allow for anyone to have a similar experience among the trees rather than out at sea.

Interested in having us add a crow’s nest to the design for your custom tree net? Contact Tree Weaves today at (916) 896-8984 to discuss your options for additional features, such as a crow’s nest, ladder, slide, or basket. Upgrading your custom tree net with extra features is a great way to enhance the experience of enjoying a Tree Weave that can add unique flair to any installation.

Seven Arrows Tree Weave Crow’s Nest

One of the most recent crow’s nests we have installed was a rather large crow’s nest at the Seven Arrows Tree Weave in Pacific Palisades, CA. This playground structure was built on the grounds at the Seven Arrows Elementary School. The school hired Tree Weaves to build a unique and dynamic playground structure with plenty of additional features for the school’s students to enjoy.

In our pursuit of creating a playground structure that would be perfect for exploration and fun, we built a second-level crow’s nest high up in the large branches of the sycamore tree used to form the perimeter of the net. We used many strong, evenly-spaced anchor bolts along the branches of this tree to help create the floor perimeter and walls in this crow’s nest. A newer double-strand method of weaving was also used to weave the floor and walls of the crow’s nest to create a strong and comfortable feel to the net.

The crow’s nest itself is rather large compared to some of the other crow’s nests we have built in the past. We decided to create a larger crow’s nest that would be able to accommodate four to six kids at a time. The intention for this crow’s nest was to be a space for students to enjoy gathering together high up in the trees. This crow’s nest is perfect for students who want a great location to read, study, or socialize comfortably while being able to look down at the beautiful grounds of Seven Arrows Elementary.

Juniper Moon Grove Crow’s Nest

In contrast to the crow’s nest on the Seven Arrows Tree Weave, the crow’s nest on the Juniper Moon Grove Tree Weave is a single-person crow's nest. The Juniper Moon Grove Tree Weave is a three-level tree net built along the tranquil walking trails of Juniper Moon Grove, an off-grid glamping sanctuary in Ewing, KY.

The crow’s nest on this stunning tree net makes up the third level of the tall structure. Roughly 15’-20’ up in the trees, the lofty heights of this incredible crow’s nest offers amazing views of the surrounding forest. This makes the crow’s nest an ideal spot for observing woodland creatures unnoticed as they move around the grounds of Juniper Moon Grove. The peace and quiet of the crow’s nest are also perfect for enjoying a warm afternoon with a nice book or simply relaxing.

Another stunning feature to this crow’s nest is the dream catcher patterns that are woven into the floor and walls of the crow’s nest. These dream catchers are made of an array of different colors, giving a striking appearance to the crow’s nest. In fact, the entire Juniper Moon Grove Tree Weave is covered in different types of dream catchers from top to bottom.

Getting a Crow’s Nest In Your Tree Weave

If you are interested in getting a crow’s nest added to the design for your tree net or playground structure from Tree Weaves, we would love to discuss your options. There are many different ways we can construct a crow’s nest to fit the visions of a client. However, it is important to remember that the design of our tree nets and playground structures are often dictated by the trees and existing structures at the installation site. This can mean that there is a limit to how high we can build a Tree Weave or that we are unable to build a crow’s nest due to these limitations. That being said, we are always happy to discuss different design options to help meet the client’s desired look. We can even add a crow’s nest to an existing installation after the installation has been completed. Give us a call today at (916) 896-8984 to discuss your design options.
