Fire Diamond Tree Weave
We love local tree net projects! This tree net is just south of town in an area of Asheville known as Biltmore Park. The neighborhood is a family friendly one, with large wooded lots. Perfect for Tree Weaves!
The space they had in mind for a tree net was huge. The trees were probably 30-40 ft apart, but the client didn’t really want to commission a tree net quite that large. To use the space, but size the net down, we used what we call a “space anchor”. On most tree nets, the perimeter of the net goes right up to, and around the trees. In this case, we attached ropes to the trees directly, but extended the anchors so the beginning of the actual net structure was floating in “space” hence the “space anchor”. This allows you to use any point along your perimeter line to start creating your structure, large or small.
We knew when we started this tree net that we were also incorporating a zip line. The lot had plenty of space and just the right amount of slope for this, so we knew the zip line would be the perfect add on. We had to make sure that we placed the ladder just so that you could have easy access to the net, while also allowing safe dismount from the platform onto the zip-line. We ended up creating a ladder with two ground anchor points so the net stayed taught when climbing up. We used hoops of bright yellow rope to create foot/hand holds that are easily seen and easy to use.
The client said his kids liked the color red. Knowing this, we decided to go with a warm color theme for this tree weave. Using tones of red, yellow, and rust, really popped against the green forest in the background. Colors included are Goldenrod, Rust, Imperial Red, Crimson.
